Prism for porting single core code to dual core, quad core, and multicore system-on-chip
Anyone migrating software to multicore architectures is justifiably concerned with a particular class of bugs that surface when the original single-threaded code executes in a parallel processing environment. These are the same kinds of errors often encountered when you write multi-threaded software, including data dependencies, race conditions, or deadlocks. Freescale's Jim Trudeau shares common multicore and multithreading programming issues that have challenged our team – and how Freescale is solving the problem. Using our LTE Layer 2 software as a test case, we applied CriticalBlue's Prism, a multicore software analysis tool, to quickly locate sub-optimal code running on the MPC8572 processor. Read more » »
Era of connected intelligence: Managing your health and home energy
Our connected future includes the smart grid, which will automate our electric power system enabling more intelligent management of how we distribute and use our energy. And not so far off is a world that seamlessly connects your activities and very being with your tablet device to associate not only your state of wellness, but also tracking trends that can alert you or a remote caregiver about a potential chronic disease. Freescale's Bruno Baylac summarizes the era of connected intelligence and how it will impact your world. Read more » »
