【产通社，10月7日讯】村田制作所（Murata Manufacturing）在CEATEC上展示了电子行走辅助车（electronic walking-assist car）。村田表示，该电子车可以帮助老年人，或者其他带有重物或行李的用户行走。但是，该辅助车不可以骑，用户只要用手扶住，就可以用来承载重物。

The electronic walking-assist car uses the principle of an "inverted pendulum" in its control, which has up until now been used in two-heeled vehicles. The control technologies used were developed in Murata Seisaku-kun and Murata Seiko-chan, and sensing uses Murata's own gyro-sensors.

This electronic walking-assist car exhibit features safety wheels, and these help it maintain a safe position when it is let go. The device can be controlled easily by pushing and pulling with one finger. However, as this was under the control of an operator, it is unclear whether it can operate fully independently. Given that this uses an inverted pendulum for control, both the operation used to accelerate and the movement when the device encounters an obstacle result in a tilt forwards, meaning that how to control the action to accelerate in these instances will be a problem.

Unlike ride-on electrical devices, this is not regulated as a vehicle; therefore there are fewer hurdles towards bringing it to market. In addition to pushed mobility aids for the elderly, Murata Manufacturing hopes to use this technology in baby buggies, wagons, and shopping carts, and the plan is to have this technology on the market soon.

The idea for the electronic walking-assist car came from Murata's "Mirai (Future) Activities", which develops new business development activities in a cross-sectional manner throughout the company.

These initiatives are not constrained by organizational boundaries, and continue to welcome ideas from volunteers for new business possibilities.
